RDL is a project management and logistics company operating in the civil engineering and railway sectors. Our success is born out of our flexibility and adaptability, enabling the company to react to clients requirements at typically short timescales. The company has successfully completed projects ranging from £2,000 to £2M in value.
As the name suggests RDL is a company that specialises in all aspects of Railway Drainage, including Investigation (Jetting & CCTV), Refurbishment & Renewal of existing systems and installation of new drainage systems both on and off track. Full details of the services we offer are included within our brochure, to request a brochure please email email@example.com or alternatively click here.
The company is based in Gloucestershire, managing its activities from its main office in Maisemore and project satellite offices as necessary.
RDL was formed to aid Network Rail (then Railtrack) and their Principal Contractors to replace and repair the ageing railway infrastructure. This initially consisted of line side drainage but soon expanded to include a wider range of infrastructure work.
The company gained its Railway Safety Case (RSC) certificate on 29th December 2000 for plant operations in possessions under Railtrack and was subsequently accepted by Network Rail on its formation.
As a Plant Operating Scheme licence holder (POS) for Network Rail for the operation of road rail vehicles (RRVs), RDL has the flexibility to use leading edge technology to facilitate its client’s projects.
The requirement for a POL came from the Railways & Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS) in October 2006. In 2014 the POL was commuted over to a POS licence. RDL continue to operate RRVs under its POS certificate. RDL has a train operating licence exemption from the Office of Rail Regulation for possession only operation.
The RDL POS gives the company the flexibility to undertake its project work utilising the most technologically advanced plant available which can provide savings in time and money. An example of this is the use of screw-piling to erect a signal typically taking four hours instead of traditional excavation & cast concrete methods taking several days.
